V-Festival 2014
The V-Festival will return to Hylands Park and Weston Park from August 16th – 17th 2014. V-Festival tickets for the 2014 weekend are available now!
The event is sponsored by Virgin media in which the ‘V’ in the name is taken and televised by channel 4, however a minority wish to reap the benefits of an atmosphere of a festival and so tickets are of high demand. The idea of the festival came from Pulp’s main man Jarvis Cocker as he declared he wished to play two outdoor concerts within two days, since, developments such as the placement of a number of stages within the parks allowing more artists on the bill, have been put into action. Traditionally V Festival has showcased a mixture of both British and International artists.
Past artists which have taken to the stages of Hylands Park and Weston Park include Blur, Coldplay, Eminem, Pulp and the Verve, however the producers like to promote a diverse music scene and more recently have encouraged the onslaught of Pop music, welcoming the likes of Lady Gaga, Scouting for Girls and Ed Sheeran.
2013 V Festival was the most successful to date, with a sell-out weekend and 340,000 music fans plunging onto the parks. The headliners from this year were Beyonce and the Kings of Leon, along with Calvin Harris and Rudimental to name a few. This success has resulted in the festival organisers announcing that a select number of tickets will go on sale throughout the next week, guaranteeing festival goers, V Fest tickets a year in advance. V-Festival – 2013
The V-Festival is returning to the Hylands Park in Chelmsford and the Weston Park in Staffordshire from August 17th to August 18th and will headline some of the biggest stars in the music industry such as Beyoncé, Kings of Leon, Stereophonics, Emeli Sandé and the Script.
The V-Festival is one of the best European music festivals and takes place within the penultimate weekend of August. It is located at Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in South Staffordshire.
This year will see the music giants Beyoncé, Kings of Leon, Sterophonics, Emeli Sandé, Calvin Harris, The Script and many more on over 4 stages. Beyoncé had an incredible year. She performed at the Super Bowl half-time show and recently her European Tour “Mrs. Carter Show World Tour” sold out within minutes. She will stop with her tour in Birmingham, London and Manchester at the beginning of April.
For Kings of Leon, it will be the first UK festival in a long time. The band will be touring the UK in June with stops in London, Manchester and Birmingham. They recently released their song “No Tell” under the name “Smoke & Jackal.” The Followill brothers currently working on their 6th album and hopefully will give their UK fans a sneak preview.
The Stereophonics will also be at the V-Festival. The Welsh rock band is praised for their amazing live gigs and have played all the mayor UK festivals. Other artist to look out for are Calvin Harris, Labrinth, and James Arthur who are all fantastic live performers.
This year’s V-Festival has a fantastic line-up and a must for any festival fan. Festival director Simon Moran described the 18th version of the V-Festival as “an unmissable weekend.”
History
V Festival was first introduced in 1996 ,when Pulp’s front man Jarvis Cocker showed his desire to play two outdoor events in two days. Both Victoria Park Warrington and Hylands Parks Chelmsford were the original venues so that it was accessible for both the North and South of the country. From there the idea of adding extra bands came forward and the space for camping over the two dates. In 1997 the northern venue was relocated to Temple Newsam in Leeds to provide more room three stages and a camping area. It was relocated in 1999 to Weston Park, Staffordshire where it is still held to the current date. Although, the V-Festival was predominantly a Rock festival, the music over the years have altered, pop and Indie music is often on show now,
