Source: SJM Concerts

Mumford & Sons are a four piece folk/rock band from the UK. They formed in 2007, and released their first album ‘Sigh No More’ in 2009 and then their new album ‘Babel’ in September 2012. The band’s sound is modern with an upbeat rock element but also mixes traditional folk which gives them a different sound to other bands. The use of banjo and dobro can be heard in many of their songs. They can be compared to Artists such as Noah and the Whale and Laura Marling, with all bands coming out of London at a similar time.

The band consists of:

  • Marcus Mumford – Lead singer and guitar
  • Ben Lovett – Keyboard, accordion, electric guitar and drums
  • Winston Marshall – Banjo, dobro, electric guitar and guitar
  • Ted Dwane – Double bass, bass guitar, guitar and drums

Mumford & Sons have been nominated for several different awards and have won some including a BRIT in 2009 for “British Album of the Year” and a Q award for “Best New Act.” Mumford & Sons success is not just limited to the UK, with album sales for ‘Babel’ reaching 600,000 in the first week in the US. Marking it as the fastest selling album of 2012 so far and nearly doubling what teen star Justin Beiber’s album could manage. The Mumford & Sons ‘Tour of Two halves’ starts in October 2012, kicking off in Sydney Australia, traveling to the US before arriving in the UK in November. The tour will visit venues such as Evening News Arena, Manchester and the Odyssey arena, Belfast before the last show at the O2 Arena in London on December 18th.

This tour will be great, it will make the perfect early Christmas present for any lovers of Rock or Folk, with upbeat songs to warm you up on a cold winters day, check out this band see if you like them, and buy tickets quickly as they will sell out fast! Here is a selection of tickets available for the Mumford & Sons UK and Ireland tour:
